About NSI

Welcome to National Sugar Institute. It was the Indian Sugar Committee appointed by the Government of India in 1920 that first recommended the establishment of an all India institute for research in sugar technology. The need for a central sugar research institute was also emphasized by the Royal Commission in Agriculture in 1928 and the Tariff Board in 1930.

The Institute conducts course in various branches of technology, engineering and science leading to award of Certificate, Post Graduate Diploma and Fellowship. It also provides facilities for conducting research for award of Doctorate for which it has tie up with other universities. Institute recruits talented faculty through Union Public Service Commission and Staff Selection Commission. Meritorious students are admitted from all over the country and abroad also through an online selection process.
